Network Scan

Often it is useful or necessary to understand the traffic on the network(s) the Bueno Edge Gateway (BEG) is connected to. Running operations like BACnet Discoveries on the network(s) can cause congestion and disrupt other systems that also use it. The Network Scan feature of the BEG allows users to get an understanding of the traffic on the network and therefore better understand what operations it may or may not be able to handle. Specifically, it will capture packets sent on the network over a set period of time and generate a pcapng file summarising the traffic.

Running a Network Scan

To run a network scan:

  1. Navigate to the Network Scan page in the Network submenu.
  2. Select New Network Scan to start a new scan, which will prompt a dialogue box to open.
  3. Choose the interface of the network you want to scan.
  4. Select how long you want to observe traffic for, then click Start Scan to begin.
  5. Once the scan duration has elapsed, a pcapng file summarising the observed traffic will be available for download from the Network Scan page.
